The Cree First Nation of Waswanipi is presently seeking a resourceful and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Groundskeeper within the Culture Department.

POSITION SUMMARY
The core function of the Groundskeeper is to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the cultural site and its premises.
The Groundskeeper will perform work related to the construction and maintenance of landscapes and related structures. The position will also be responsible for providing the appropriate materials and supplies needed to maintain and enhance the quality of services provided to users of the Cultural Village and its traditional dwellings.
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Perform general outdoor and interior maintenance of the Cultural Village.
• Assist with the construction, maintenance, and upkeep of landscapes and related structures.
• Ensure the cultural site and premises remain clean, safe, and functional.
• Provide and maintain adequate materials and supplies for maintenance activities.
• Prepare daily and weekly maintenance work reports.
• Follow all departmental procedures, manuals, and instructions.
• Plan, organize, and supervise grounds maintenance activities.
• Help ensure the safety and cleanliness of the grounds for all users of the Cultural Village.
• Perform other related duties as required by the Culture Department.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
• Diploma or certification in a related field; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of Cree culture, including traditions, practices, dwellings, and cultural activities.
• Knowledge and practical skills in carpentry and general maintenance.
• Ability to follow procedures, manuals, and instructions established by the Department.
• Ability to speak Cree and English. French would be considered an asset.
• Must be in good physical health and able to perform outdoor and interior maintenance work.
• Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

POSITION DETAILS
Place of Work: Cree First Nation of Waswanipi – Cultural Village
Status: Full-Time Permanent
Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly
Salary: According to qualifications and the applicable salary scale.
