July and August signify summer (Niipin), a vibrant period marked by blueberry and fishing seasons, offering ample opportunities for outdoor enjoyment such as canoeing, cultural gatherings and activities.

During the summer, we celebrate Waswanipi’s history with Waswanipi Day in June and our annual gathering of our people “Chiiwetau” which means “Let’s go home!” in July at the Old Post.
