Mission/Mandate

The Community Housing department’s mission is to collaborate with community members to ensure that everyone has access to a home that meets their unique needs. We are dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive living environment through various housing solutions and programs.

Main responsibilities

• Housing Allocation: Provide housing and manage rent collection for allocated units.
• Repairs & Maintenance: Address urgent, minor, and major repairs for housing units to ensure they remain in good condition.
• Promotion of Homeownership: Actively promote the private housing program to encourage community members to pursue homeownership opportunities.

Services/programs offered

CMHC Housing and Renovations.
CMHC offers loans and subsidies to construct new housing. And upon approval, funds are available for disability and homeowner renovations.

Inspections of band/CMHC units for minor, major renovations.
Inspections for Band/CMHC units. Preventive maintenance inspections will be conducted in the next fiscal year. Basic home maintenance will be offered for new tenants.

Grants for Private Homeownership.
Funding is available to construct a new house or buy a new house. Once a bank pre-approval is received then our employees prepare the “Grant for the lot” for approval by Chief and Council.
Upon requests, financial planning workshops are offered.
