Mission/Mandate

The Cultural Pursuits department aims to maintain, promote and preserve the Cree Way of Life.

Main responsibilities
  • Transfer of Knowledge and Traditional Programs: Programs that facilitate sharing of traditional skills and knowledge among community members and instruct participants in Cree traditions and practices.
  • Elder’s Services and Activities: Support and engagement initiatives and events specifically designed for Elders.
  • Transportation services: Supporting the Cree way of life by offering transportation for ISP members to practice activities out on the land.

Promote and enhance the passing of traditional Cree knowledge to future generations.

Niskamoon
To Develop projects in close collaboration with Tallyman and land users that are affected by hydro, funding available for impacted traplines.

Forest Enhancement
The propose of the “agreement regarding the Cree Traditional activities enhancement” is to ensure that the land users can continue to live a traditional life within the Eeyou istchee and to support them through the changes that forestry activities may introduce. Funding available for traplines impacted.
