Rental Housing Department
The Cree First Nation of Waswanipi is seeking a resourceful, motivated, and skilled individual to join the Rental Housing Department as an Electrician / Ventilation Technician.

Position Summary
The Electrician / Ventilation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical, heating, and ventilation systems within Band and CMHC housing units. The successful candidate will ensure that electrical and ventilation systems are safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
• Install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical systems in residential housing units.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical diagrams.
• Install and maintain wiring, controls, lighting systems, electrical equipment, and fixtures.
• Inspect electrical components and identify potential safety or maintenance issues.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and related equipment.
• Maintain and repair heating and ventilation systems to support proper indoor air quality.
• Replace defective wiring, equipment, fixtures, and other electrical components using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and respond to maintenance requests as required.
• Follow the National Building Code and applicable electrical, safety, and building regulations.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
• Complete other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator.

Qualifications and Requirements
• High School Diploma, with one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to speak Cree and English; French is considered an asset.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including the ability to work with Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required.
• Additional driver’s licence classes are considered an asset.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Employment Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly
Salary: According to qualifications, experience, and salary scale
