Youth Department
The Cree First Nation of Waswanipi is seeking a motivated, organized, and professional individual to fill the position of Administrative Assistant within the Youth Department. Reporting to the Youth Chief and the Youth Development Coordinator, the successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support to ensure the effective functioning of the department.
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the offices of the Youth Chief, Youth Council, and Youth Development Coordinator. This role assists in maintaining department operations through effective record management, financial administration, communication coordination, and general office support.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support to the Youth Chief, Youth Council, and Youth Development Coordinator.
• Process, maintain, and track invoices, deposits, and other financial records for the Youth Centre.
• Ensure departmental mandates, programs, and activities are implemented according to established schedules.
• Maintain accurate and organized filing and record-keeping systems.
• Prepare, edit, and distribute routine correspondence, reports, and departmental documents.
• Coordinate travel arrangements, meetings, appointments, and event logistics.
• Receive and direct telephone calls, emails, mail, and messages.
• Welcome and assist visitors, community members, and stakeholders.
• Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
• College diploma in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; or
• Two (2) to four (4) years of relevant administrative experience; or
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of general office procedures and administrative practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Fluency in Cree is required; English and French are considered assets.
POSITION DETAILS
Place of Work: Youth Centre
Status: Full-Time Permanent
Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly
Salary: According to qualifications and the applicable salary scale.
