Notice: Construction of Almshouse

Please note that the work for the Cree Nation Government’s project for the construction of a new shelter on Pine Street (behind the courthouse) will begin next week. For this new project, civil engineering works will be done this fall. The construction of the building itself will begin next spring.

As part of this project, drilling and blasting operations will have to take place in order to prepare the land for the construction of the building. Those operations are schedule to begin on Tuesday September 22nd, 2026, and should end around October 10th, 2026.

To keep operations safe for workers and the public, the work is done through multiple small blast. This means that multiple blast could occur everyday.

Before each blast, a safety protocol is followed to ensure that the work area is clear and that the blast can be done safely:

1. Establishment of a 30-meter safety perimeter around the zone to be blast.

2. Blocking access to work sites and roads within the 30 meters zone. Momentary closure of Pine Street for the blast.

3. Safety patrol using pickup trucks equipped with sirens.

4. Siren signal before and after the blast.
