Notice: Construction Work in Progress

New Sanitary Sewer Network

Cree First Nation of Waswanipi would like to inform residents that construction work related to a new sanitary sewer network is underway and will continue throughout the summer.

The project involves the installation of a new sanitary sewer line along Riverside Street, between Road 113 and the Cultural Village. A connection to the existing sewer network on Jack Pine East Street will also be completed as part of the work.

These areas will be secured during excavation work; however, community members should expect occasional traffic disruptions in the area.

New Reservoir

The Cree First Nation of Waswanipi would like to inform residents that construction work for a new drinking water reservoir has begun and will continue through the fall of 2026.

The reservoir will be constructed between Billy Ottereyes Street and All Chief Way Street. As part of the project, six intervention sites will be established within the community at the following locations:

  • End of Chief Simon Ottereyes Street
  • All Chief Way Street
  • Intersection of Balsam Street and Chief Billy Ottereyes Street
  • Intersection of Balsam Street and Tamarack Street
  • Intersection of Balsam Street and Poplar Street
  • Intersection of Pine Street and Poplar Street

All work areas will be secured during excavation and construction works. Community members may experience temporary traffic disruptions in and around these locations.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout the project and encourage everyone to remain vigilant near construction zones.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
